The Taskforce welcomes submissions from organisations or individuals at any time over its period of operation (August 2009 to October 2011). We want to hear about any ideas that can contribute to significantly closing the gap with Australia. There is no form to fill in – we would rather hear from you in your own words about what you think is important and why. As a guide, the Taskforce is broadly interested in:
- What is holding NZ back from achieving incomes as high as those in comparable countries?
- What can (or should) the Government do about it?
- How much difference could it make if the Government did what you propose?
The Taskforce is critically aware that closing the income gap with Australia will require long-term commitment and determination – there aren't simple solutions, and it won't happen as a result of one or two reports. We therefore welcome your input and debate over the next three years, and encourage you to check back at our website periodically to see what others are saying.
